Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Emergency Management Workforce Virtual Focus Group, Feb 15 & 21

A research team that FEMA awarded a micro-grant is currently in the process of conducting one of the first nationally representative surveys to understand better the makeup, attitudes, beliefs, and needs of all emergency management practitioners relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). They invite professionals in the field to share experiences and ideas related to DEI to explore ways to improve representation and create a more inclusive environment in emergency management. People interested in participating in a 60-minute virtual focus group (3-8 participants/focus group) may sign up for one of the remaining sessions:

Feedback garnered during the focus groups will inform a comprehensive DEI survey that will be shared with the emergency management community. Results from the survey will be used for a research study performed by Dr. Rita Burke (USC), Ananya Verma (USC), and Lorraine Schneider (The Resiliency Initiative) in partnership with FEMA. Local, state, and federal governments and the private sector can use the results and materials generated from this effort to inform their DEI workforce and training decisions.
